Chinese Interpretation Services: What to Expect
India's China-facing trade spans auto and auto-component manufacturing, IT and hardware vendors, EV and battery suppliers setting up new lines, and pharmaceutical sourcing. Almost all of it eventually needs someone in the room who can move between Mandarin and English without losing the commercial detail. That is the job professional Chinese interpretation services do, and it is very different from running a conversation through a phone app.
A good interpreter does three things at once: renders the language accurately, keeps the register right, and reads the room. When a Chinese supplier says a delivery date is "difficult", that is not the same as "no" — and a literal rendering will cost you the negotiation. Our interpreters have sat through enough India–China deals to tell you which one you just heard.
On-Site Interpretation Across India
Most requests fall into a few familiar shapes. A Chinese engineering team arrives to commission imported machinery and needs an interpreter on the shop floor for a week. A buying team is visiting from Shenzhen and there are two days of meetings. A supplier audit is running at a manufacturing facility. Each needs a different kind of interpreter, and we brief accordingly rather than sending whoever is free.
For technical assignments we share your drawings, part lists or agenda with the interpreter in advance. Ten minutes of preparation on terminology saves an hour of confusion at the machine.
Consecutive or Simultaneous Chinese Interpretation?
Clients often ask which mode they need. For meetings, factory visits, audits and negotiations, use consecutive interpretation, where the speaker pauses and the interpreter renders each segment. It is accurate, allows clarification and needs no equipment. For conferences, delegation visits, investor days and any session with a large audience and a fixed schedule, use simultaneous Chinese interpretation with a booth, headsets and a two-interpreter team working in rotation.
A rough rule: if the session runs more than ninety minutes with a fixed agenda and more than about twenty listeners, simultaneous will save you half a day of running time. Below that, consecutive is usually the better value.
Telephonic & Video Interpretation
Not every assignment needs a body in the room. For quick vendor check-ins, remote negotiations or a short technical call, a Chinese interpreter can join by phone, Zoom, Teams or WeChat — usually arranged within a few hours and billed by the call or the hour.
Areas We Cover Across India
We deploy interpreters across Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and their surrounding industrial belts. Assignments in tier-2 cities and smaller industrial towns are handled by the same team with travel agreed up front.
